Warriors… come out to play-ay! 🍾
This week on The VHS Club, Katie and Nat are heading into the gritty, neon-soaked streets of 1979 New York City for one very long trip back to Coney Island.
We’re reviewing The Warriors, Walter Hill’s cult classic about a street gang falsely accused of killing the most powerful gang leader in New York. Now every gang in the city is after them, and they have to make it from the Bronx all the way back to Coney Island alive.
And somehow, nearly 50 years later, this movie is still ridiculously cool.
We’re talking about:
- The Baseball Furies and their absolutely incredible commitment to the bit
- One of the most quotable taunts in movie history
- The longest subway ride home EVER
- That mysterious radio DJ keeping the city updated
- The Warriors’ extremely fashionable leather vests
- The chaos behind the making of the movie
- Which NYC gang we'd absolutely NOT want to encounter
- And whether The Warriors still holds up in 2026
Plus, as always, we’re digging into the trivia, behind-the-scenes stories, weird details, questionable decisions, and everything else that makes revisiting these movies so much fun.
